Invermere, BC is a year round recreation community located on the shores of Windermere Lake. The community is also the economic centre of the Columbia Valley servicing neighbouring centres like Radium Hot Springs, Fairmont, Panorama, Canal Flats and Windermere.

The community of Invermere is situated in the Rocky Mountain Trench with the Purcell Mountains to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the east. The Columbia River runs north and south of Windermere Lake and the community of Invermere. Northwest of the community is the largest continuous wetlands in North America - the Columbia Valley Wetlands.

Invermere in the Columbia valley is a region surrounded by nature and wilderness with many parks, trails, hot springs, mountains, lakes and rivers to explore. In the community of Invermere is the James Chabot Park on Windermere Lake. North of the community are the many trails and wildlife in the Kootenay National Park.

During the summer many visit Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Hot Springs. Other summer activities enjoyed in Invermere include boating, water skiing, swimming, canoeing, mountain biking, golfing, horseback riding, wind surfing, sail boarding, kayaking, picnicking, fishing, hiking, birdwatching and wildlife sightseeing.

During the winter, the skiers and snowboarders visit Panorama and Fairmont Mountain Villages. Other winter activities enjoyed in the Invermere region, after the snow has fallen, includes snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, heli skiing, alpine mountaineering, ice fishing and dog sledding.

The services and amenities in the community of Invermere that are important to travelers include gas stations, accommodations, restaurants, banks, grocery stores, pubs, laundromats, tours, guides, gift shops, art galleries, internet and coffee houses.
